Social Media Trends for 2022

Multifamily Social Media Marketing

The pandemic highlighted, changed, and accelerated our needs both as individuals and as communities. So, what does the landscape look like for 2022?  How should you adapt and where should the focus be to ensure you’re winning in the new year? Read on…

TikTok Takeover

TikTok broke all download records in 2021 and is one trend guaranteed to continue in 2022. It is becoming the go to app for connecting with current and future customers. If you’re looking to diversify your social beyond Instagram, you need to focus on TikTok.

User Generated Content: Social Selling

2021 saw a huge surge in user generated content (UGC). The pandemic showed just how crucial apps like TikTok and Instagram are, giving us a direct way to engage with prospects and existing residents. UGC generates trust and increases engagement and can help you improve how you connect and collaborate with your communities.  We tend to trust the opinions of others over brands, people buy from people.  Build a community around your brand and you will have a whole army of marketeers ready to talk about your community and how great it is. We live in a time where the sense of community is more valuable than ever, so make sure you have a plan for utilizing UGC in 2022.

Increasing Influence for Influencers

As the impact of Social continues to grow, so does the clout of the influencers. Aligning your buildings and communities with relevant influencers means you can meet your target audience where they’re already spending a lot of their day, on social.  Influencers can connect with prospects with an authentic voice giving you ROI and immediate results.

It’s not one size fits all – don’t think you have to go big. A micro-influencer might feel closer to your prospects and could give you a higher conversion rate. Be sure to define your goals. Do you want to increase loyalty, gain more exposure, achieve higher sales, or better ROI? Make sure the influencers you reach out to align with your big picture and fit your brand.

Continue to Engage, Entertain and Educate

We all went online for information, entertainment, and connection during the pandemic and Social Media continues to be an integral part of our lives. With ever increasing content creation, the challenge now is to remain visible in what is a hugely crowded digital landscape. To do this, you have to stay local, detailed and relevant. Less quantity, higher content. Your dialogue has to be authentic, honest and informative to gain trust.  Be mindful not to alienate prospects and residents by sharing irrelevant or inaccurate information.

Engage with Empathy

The pandemic reminded us all of the essence of belonging, of feeling valued, of being seen and cared for as a member of the community. That’s why empathy is key, both for your prospects and residents. As we continue to try and find to a sense of normality post pandemic, organizations that make us feel valued and wanted, acknowledged, and helped are the ones who will come out on top next year.  So, invest time and energy in twitter, live chats, webinars, Facebook groups etc. to help your communities and prospects feel educated, informed and entertained.

Video Will Remain Number 1

Video helped us all feel more connected throughout lockdown, and it continues to grow as the favored content format on social. More and more companies are turning to live-streamed immersive and relatable content on YouTube. It gives you an opportunity to produce relatable content and connect more deeply with your target audience. So, make posting and sharing videos on social channels a key part of your marketing campaigns in 2022.

Smooth Sailing

Prospects will continue to prefer digital channels, as we continue to transition from face to face to remote selling. At the same time, prospects are looking for an ever more personalized experience, so get personal.  Be as responsive as possible, consider chatbots or consumer analytics tools to make sure their experience on your website is smooth. Our attention spans continue to shrink, so the faster and easier prospects can get the information they need and experience your building and community, the more chance of turning that prospect into a resident.

Focus on your Social Responsibility

Now more than ever people are prioritizing themselves, their values, personal time and self-care. It’s time to analyze your companies’ actions, deeds and culture. A solid social media strategy should highlight your values around the issues that matter most; from social issues such as mental health and homelessness to environmental issues such as recycling and climate change. People are increasingly aware of organization’s commitment to their CSR. Those that put in the effort to be genuinely responsible and inclusive will see the most traction.
